{"id":232,"date":"2009-01-27T20:38:12","date_gmt":"2009-01-27T18:38:12","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blog.sqawasmi.com\/?p=232"},"modified":"2009-01-27T20:42:25","modified_gmt":"2009-01-27T18:42:25","slug":"running-bluetooth-headset-on-linux","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blog.sqawasmi.com\/index.php\/2009\/01\/27\/running-bluetooth-headset-on-linux\/","title":{"rendered":"Running Bluetooth Headset on Linux"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>As i said before in a previous blog, i got a new headset as a gift from my uncle,, mm i tried to configure it in the first day but i failed,,, today i played again and yes i got it working,, here how i configured it.<\/p>\n<p>I use Fedora 8 (yes i know currently there is F10 \ud83d\ude1b ), my headset vendor is Teac, you will need to install the following packages:<\/p>\n<p>bluez-utils, bluez-utils-alsa also gnome-bluetooth if you use gnome and wanna add it to the panel.<\/p>\n<p>now use hcitool to seach about the device:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>[idle-boy@localhost Enigma]$ hcitool scan<br \/>\nScanning &#8230;<br \/>\n00:1F:5C:87:95:D7       idle-BoY<br \/>\n00:09:DD:70:D9:AA     Stereo Headset<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Now set your Headset to paring mode and do the following command to connect (as root):<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>[root@localhost ~]# hcitool cc 00:09:DD:70:D9:AA<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Add the following to your  ~\/.asoundrc file (a file alsa use):<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>pcm.bluetoothraw {<br \/>\ntype bluetooth<br \/>\ndevice 00:09:DD:70:D9:AA<br \/>\nprofile &#8220;auto&#8221;<br \/>\n}<\/p>\n<p>pcm.bluetooth {<br \/>\ntype plug<br \/>\nslave {<br \/>\npcm &#8220;bluetoothraw&#8221;<br \/>\n}<\/p>\n<p>}<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>thats all, at least for me \ud83d\ude42 ,, i use mplayer,, to play a song:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>[idle-boy@localhost Enigma]$ mplayer -ao alsa:device=bluetooth *\/*<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>for more info and other players, see this Documentation: http:\/\/wiki.bluez.org\/wiki\/HOWTO\/AudioDevices<\/p>\n<p>weeeeeew so nice to move your head without cables \ud83d\ude1b<\/p>\n<h3>Related Images:<\/h3>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>As i said before in a previous blog, i got a new headset as a gift from my uncle,, mm i tried to configure it in the first day but i failed,,, today i played again and yes i got it working,, here how i configured it.
